Usage Policy ManagerThe module allows Network Managers to define and automatically monitor a Bandwidth Quota (daily and/or weekly) for any user or groups of users on the network. Warnings emails and automatic actions can be configured as quota is consumed. The LANGuardian Usage Policy Manager:
The Decoder Module for Microsoft SQL ServerThe LANGuardian Decoder Module for Microsoft SQL Server closely monitors database activity and addresses some of the security vulnerabilities that occur when MS SQL Database queries return results to unauthorised clients or generate a surge in traffic resulting in slow database links. |

Web Client Detection (Optional Module)The Web Client Detection Feature uses Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology to detect web browser type and version number by decoding the user agent string used in each http flow. One of the key features of the Web Client Detection Feature is its ability to detect known vulnerable web clients/browsers in use on your network and identify who is using them. Also use it to detect prohibited devices, such as iPhones connected to the network, or agents associated with known malware.

Pcap SensorThe new pcap file sensor type allows LANGuardian to import packet capture files generated by third party applications, perform analysis and present results using the standard report set. Use an application such as Wireshark or tcdump, to capture traffic from a section of your network that is not monitored by LANGuardian and upload it. Then use the standard report set to analyse or troubleshoot whatever issues exist.

Alerts on ReportsAlerts on reports improves the flexibilty of LANGuardian alerting. Using this feature in conjunction with the Custom Report feature, LANGuardian can be configured to generate alerts when certain, user defined conditions or events are seen. For example, a custom report can be created that shows all client systems that generate more than 1GB of network traffic in a 2 hour period. If this occurs, then an event is generated. Using this technique a series of policy, or business use cases can be configured and LANGuardian will automatically alert of any deviations.

Device LocatorThe LANGuardian Device Locator utility assists the Administrator in identifying where devices are connected to the network, by locating the Network Switch and Network Switch port that a particular device is connected to. A GUI interface is supplied that allows the user to search by IP address or by MAC address. Use this feature, in conjunction with the 'New MAC Address' alert to discover where unauthorised devices are being connected to the network, or to find the location of misconfigured systems that are using someone else’s IP address. |
